why no 3DS play case?

October 16 2012 , Written by wells Published on #ds lite case, #ds lite shell case, #ds lite Housing Case

There's a bunch of cases to the 3DS, but what COMPLETELY ASTONISHES ME is always that you'll find NONE that allow the 3DS to get played while in the case. I don't mean form-fitting shells that cover the 3DS like hard skins or whatever. Just cases that contain the 3DS in the bottom while the top holds games and maybe some accessories like stylus or AR cards.

Extremely popular ds lite shell case there were A lot of cases like this, some a lot better than others. The example pic above was a part of my Brain Age 2 Ds lite bundle I bought back in 2007. This doesn't happen really work while using 3DS considering that the top strap prevents it from closing properly.

The 3DS in the main is apparently marketed towards older gamers. I certainly such as stylish look of the usb ports... back 2006 I assumed the Nintendo ds lite looked great... nevertheless the 3DS looks more stylish. I love the colours, the oft-criticized "layer cake" check out it. It may not be an ideal design by hook or by crook but that is a conversation for an additional pair time.

My point is that 3DS cases also seem targeted to your older "sophisticated" gamer. The ds lite Housing Case I discussed were mostly aimed towards kids because they're those who need them. This is why I'm in search of one, for my 11 year old nephew's 3DS. It simply seems bizarre that No enterprise on the market makes a 3DS case that the 3DS may be took part in AND store accessories especially because the 3DS not merely has a stylus but additionally AR cards. Exactly what a huge missed opportunity!

I am not sure if Nintendo is wanting to disassociate with its fanbase of younger gamers, but if so, that you will find a gigantic mistake. I understand they warn against 3D for six year olds and under (Exercise wouldn't advise giving a 3DS to your 6 years old anyway) but I'm certain lots of kids will use the 3DS. With the recent 3DS price drops it's becoming even more accessible for younger gamers-- seen as less expensive purchase by their parents beyond doubt-- so they really need accessories that will meet the needs of their requirements, i.e. stronger AND practical to carry around cartridges & such without losing either the accessories, case or both.

Yet another thing that I'm amazed nobody had the idea of is creating a case/shell that uses the exterior top half the 3DS/all the other DSLite consoles to store game pockets. It might be something which goes through the top outside of the 3DS, holds 3 games and clips within the sides or it may be one of those shells that clips over the whole outside top half and possesses some fabric pockets for cartridges.

It becomes an extremely rough mock-up I did to illustrate the fundamental idea. It just seems to me that that whole outer top half of the DS, from the time the DS Lite era, were utilized properly. Might appear to be a perfect area to store games on. Yes it looks kinda fugly. Personally , i probably wouldn't apply it because I like slim ds lite case anyway.... but for kids-- and i am there are a handful of older gamers that value practical solutions over looks-- who'd probably really appreciate the important-world functionality where, in the real world, we will need to wear lots of carts around if we want to have much real number of 3DS games (DSiware and Ambassador downloads notwithstanding)
